That’s right folks. Abercrombie & Fitch is taking Tokyo by the arm and guiding it into sexed-up, fleshed up American collegiate-wear bliss. The company has just signed a lease to build a flagship in Tokyo’s prestigious Ginza district scheduled for completion by late 2009. However, it won’t be just any flagship it’ll be 11 stories (yes 11), 10 of which are said to actually sell merchandise.
The label has currently jumped on the ever broadening bandwagon of brands to infiltrate the growing area. Bottega Veneta and Giorgio Armani (who recently revealed plans to open a 14-story flagship) are just some of the labels spending major money and expecting even larger profits in this retail haven. These plans are the height of A&F’s goals for international expansion (they opened a flagship in London this past March and have plans for Paris, Milan & Madrid.)
