Mix Match Me – You Rock!

October 19, 2009

Mix Match Me

Having written about the dressing up box for grown ups on my blog previously, the website itself has now gone live. Check out www.mixmatchme.com. The idea is genius – you can create outfits, mix and match bags, shoes, jewellery – to create a look you love and then send it straight to the basket to buy it. Boden and French Connection have signed up so far and more cool fashiony brands coming soon. You can also become a fan on Facebook – Mix Match Me. <3 x

Wildfox, I think I love you…

July 4, 2009

I have a new major fashion crush. It’s not often that I find labels that literally make me want to buy everything on their site!! I’m not sure if its the amazingly cool photoshoots or the darling slogan tee’s and leggings. From across the pond, you guys are to thank for LA based label Wildfox Couture, www.wildfoxcouture.com

‘Childhood friends Emily Faulstich and Kimberley Gordon are the creative force behind Wildfox. Inspired by Native American artwork and vintage rock & roll t-shirts, the young designers gave birth to a brand that tells a story of their generation and friendship. Today, the girls spend their time visiting vintage shops and working out of their Silverlake-area design studio – where they sew their hearts on their sleeves and spread peace and love through design.’ –  Quote taken from Wildfox Couture’s website.

And rumour has it that they will be launching a kidswear line entitled ‘Little Fox’ for Fall, so it’s not only us grown up’s who can be uber cute. I heart it! xx

London based Karim Abu-Ouf introduces his new menswear label: ‘beik is a line which aims to show where East meets West, and the overlap between the Western and Eastern cultures. It draws its inspiration from the respective people and places, fused with a modern influence to create what has come to be known as the distinctive image of beik. The highest craftsmanship, the lustrous Egyptian fabrics, the traditional tailoring and the modern day style are the distinctive features of each beik garment.’

I worked styling beik’s first look-book and was hugely impressed with the quality of the fabrics, the cut and the style. Look out for this label- it is most definitely going places…xx

Jimmy Choo hits the British high street…

June 17, 2009

Jimmy Choo's

OH MY GOD. Stop the press… Jimmy Choo shoes will be available on the British high street from November 14th 2009. As if Hennes and Mauritz haven’t given us enough with their Matthew Williamson, Commes de Garcon and even Stella McCartney ranges over the years- they are now collaborating with the ultimate accessories brand. Let’s face it – most of us could not afford the luxe highendness of Choo’s –  until now.  Along with the fabulous foot gems there will be handbags, belts and accessories. The male species are not being left out here either, with a full range of men’s accessories, shoes and clothing. ‘Jimmy Choo will bring to H&M a sophisticated, fashion forward, accessible and glamorous collection – the perfect party pieces to buy now and then wear out that night!’ Tamara Mellon states. I actually don’t think I have been this excited since Marc Jacobs joined forces with Louis Vuitton!!!! xx

Hello there people…

June 15, 2009

So this is my first blog entry on Papierdoll and I am mighty excited about my new post! I am a fashion stylist based in London and I aim to cover interesting events in the UK fashion calender along with designer profiles and snippets of my life as a freelancer. My website www.fashionstylists.co.uk showcases my work as both a writer and stylist- so you can see what I do in the industry.

As you all know the fashion week season will be upon us before we know it and this year will be the 25th year of London Fashion Week. We have some huge name designers fleeing back to our shores this season and its set to be an absolute winner. This brings me to NewGen, created in 1993 by the BFC, it is crucial in supporting the fresh young talent that makes London so unique as a fashion capital. Sponsored by Topshop, the board include ginormous fashion names such as Matthew Williamson and Alexander McQueen. Annouced today was the new wave of designers to receive catwalk sponsorship- these include Mary Katrantzou, Meadham Kirchnoff, Mark Fast, Peter Pilotto and Henry Holland. It is such great news that platforms like this exist to help young designers follow their dreams.  Until next time. x
