All one has to hear is that Henrik Vibskov is going to be at Copenhagen Fashion Weekend and the trail of stragglers will become an Obama sized crowd. Copenhagen fashion weekend is going on this weekend and we’re looking at tons of the most prominent designers in Scandinavia bringing their fashion genius to the stage. This is basically a tourism initiative to get folks happily involved in all that Denmark has to offer, specifically the city pf Cophenhagen but when you hear the cast of characters that will be making the rounds at the fashion weekend, you can’t help but get excited:

My mother always told me…”If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it all.” Well being a fashion journalist, it is quite hard sticking to this mantra, but Tosca Soraya’s collection makes it very easy. Case and point.

Who LEW (I love my play on words) that a designer would finally channel the 80s trend with basket weaving and make it look so wearable and not as ‘Polly Anna’ like or completely freakish. Yes, the cream coloured basket-weaved coat paired with slit-slashed pants gave that ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’ appearance, however the black basket-weave sleeveless top with weaved skinny pants were a definite pleaser. Brights and black/whites seemed to palette on display, and the millinery was very fun while complementing chignon-styled hair and clean make up with fairy dust eyes.

Amsterdam Fashion Week had some hits and misses, but one thing for sure it did not disappoint in the entertaining factor.
Andrea Oitin’s collection exuded that just ‘waking up’ on a Saturday morning feeling in the Rocky Mountain’s, couture style, with the display of warm cable-knitted socks (which looked comfy, but I wasn’t to fond of them being without shoes), knitted cardigans that paraded the aesthetic of bath robes, paper bag waist pants of grey flannel, cotton Henley shirts, wool sweaters, knitted jumbo scarves, and knitted capes (my favourites were the multi-coloured chain link cape and the ‘balls of yarn’ cape). The colours shouted were in hues of gray, cream, burnt orange, and brown. Leaving any color to the eclectic display of accessories from knitted skully caps to socks.
In capturing the essence of comfy and cozy all in one collection, Oitin can definitely raise a cup of hot chocolate to that. Cheers!
