I am currently thoroughly enjoying our London Fashion week coverage and I’m in favorite photo mode. So what’s currently on my fashion week photo radar? Peaches Geldoff of course. She’s currently everywhere in British high society. So naturally when Anne-Marie Michel snapped this photo of “the Peach” I had to feature it:

In a word Lace.
John Rocha described this as his inspiration while showing his London Fashion Week Collection for Spring Summer 2009. The designer is never afraid to take chances and create something completely different for the season. The lace looked light as air in the photos. Our writer on the ground in London, Aradia Crokett described his collection as:
“if for dessert, the last run of girls wore beautiful, simple dresses in an array of aqua blues, lemon yellows and candy pinks. Lovely!”

When I read this I said to myself, thank GOD!! Glasgow will finally be represented at London Fashion Week in a proper way. Ok, I may not have gone that far, but I do think that if a designer like Aimee McWilliams can come from a city like Glasgow, then there must be plenty of other talent coming from this city. To that end ‘Glasgow: Scotland With Style Design Collective’ is happening again at London Fashion Week. 8 designers from Glasgow including designer of the year award winner at last year’s Scottish Style Awards, Aimee McWilliams.
The project awards designers from Glasgow a chance at £90,000 and face time with buyers, investors and the press. Normally these designers wouldn’t get a chance at doing this because of the high costs associated with putting on a show, but this event allows them the opportunity to do just that. A recent member of the collective is award winning, popular designer Christopher Kane. A good chunk of the Papierdoll office I hear is rooting for Aimee McWilliams.

If Eleni Renton has her way, London Fashion Week’s days of public funding are over. Her reasoning is simple: the British Fashion Council’s inability to solve the size zero model problem in during their fashion week means that the public’s funding of fashion week should end. Renton has a stake in London Fashion week as she is the founder of Quintessentially Models, the first “ethical” modeling agency in London. Read the rest of this entry »

Gareth Pugh, man of many hats and even many more designs has decided to take his show on the road and show in Paris as opposed to London for next season’s fashion week. When asked why, he replied that he simply couldn’t find a good croissant in London. We joke. In all seriousness, Pugh’s decision to go to Paris is tied to the fact that he recently won the ANDAM award which means that he is way more important than he was a year ago. that being the case, Pugh is now better able to compete with his Parisian counterparts. Pugh joins John Galliano, Hussein Chalayan and Alexander McQueen in ditching the gray skies of London for the city of lights.

This dress should be called sex. As soon as I saw this photo the first thing I thought of was how amazingly sexy yet not slutty this dress was. Absolutely wonderful.

Here’s a little taste of one of the highlights from Nathan Jenden last night.
The show took place in The Shunt Lounge, deep in the tunnels under London Bridge Station.

Check out the fashion week galleries on Papierdoll… the Nathan Jenden gallery will follow soon!

Well it is finally here…again!!!!
It’s time to ANGLOMANIA your heart out.
London Fashion Week A/W ‘08 is here and it is expected to be just as exciting as last season with shows from Vivienne Westwood, newcomer Inbar Spector, tailor master — Edward Sexton, the crowded IN and OUT crowd at the Super Super Show (which I seem to like more than the show itself…haha), and many more.
Resident iPapier photographer Anne-Marie Mitchell will be supplying all the visuals, while our newest contributor, fashion stylist Aradia Crockett will approve and disapprove through her reviews.
To immerse yourself in all that is LFW go to Papierdoll, and to really catch behind the scene action read the frequent musings from our writer Aradia and photographer Anne-Marie right here on iPapier.
Cheers!!!!

With London fashion week not too far away, I had to pull out one of my favorite photos from Fall 2007’s images on iPapier. There’s nothing terribly special about it, but it sets the tone. The hustle and bustle of workers in the background putting things up and taking things down, models looking half-beautiful as they take direction from people wearing all manner of headphones right before they go to makeup and the giftbags waiting for people to pick them up. Still going through all the photos from last season Anne-Marie…you’re a photographic genius.
